About Stage Harbor Marine

The history of Stage Harbor Marine (SHM) began in 1972 when Howard and Jane Meincke purchased Mitchell River Marina. After enjoying many summer vacations in Chatham, Cape Cod, with his family, Howard recognized an opportunity to relocate to Cape Cod full-time and pursue a lifelong dream. As a successful Print Supply Salesman, his parent company offered to buy him out, allowing this WWII Coast Guard/Navy Veteran to turn his passion for boating into a career and a family business. 

Initially, the Meincke family focused on boat sales and boat repairs, alongside providing essential marine services. By 1976, SHM had become an Official Dealer and Service Repair Marina for Mercury. Over the years, SHM has also been a boat dealer for brands like Seacraft, Hydrosport, SeaWolf, and Mako, with exciting new lines of pre-owned boats coming soon. In addition to selling new boats, SHM proudly serves as a Yamaha Service Dealer, ensuring customers have access to quality boating gear. The business thrives, offering various Mercury repairs and maintenance throughout the year. At just 18, Howard’s son Andrew joined the family business and officially took over operations for his father in 1979. Today, this family-run business has reached its third generation, with Andrew’s son Drew managing the Yard Management operations, ensuring that Chatham moorings and services continue to meet the needs of the community.
